About the Job

This position has primary responsibilities in the areas of course and curriculum management and the graduate degree audit (PeopleSoft Academic Advisement module) and is a member of the Catalog & Curriculum Management team. The BA2 is the professional Business/Systems Analyst for the Academic Advisement/Graduate Planning and Audit System (GPAS) - degree audit encoding, performing business or systems process analysis, functional design, testing, troubleshooting, updating, data analysis, and implementation. This position also serves as the primary on course and curriculum management - course equivalencies, pre-requisites, and course setup. Academic Support Resources supports hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Work arrangements are determined in coordination with supervisors depending on the nature of the unit and position. The arrangement for this position will be determined upon hire between employee and supervisor.

JOB DUTIES:
Course and Curriculum Management (50%)

  • Review new and updated course proposals in the catalog & curriculum management system, Coursedog.
  • Update course information (course equivalencies, course prerequisites, and topics) in the student information system, PeopleSoft.
  • Provide course/class enrollment support and troubleshooting when enrollment issues/errors arise.
  • Design and run queries that check for anomalies in course/class data and/or procedural drift.

Degree Audit Production Support and Maintenance: (50%)

  • Translate University and programmatic degree requirements and academic policies into encoding of degree audits for graduate and professional careers.
    Work closely with collegiate and departmental staff to gather and analyze requirements while providing feedback on appropriate solutions.
  • Support and maintain the degree audit system - PeopleSoft Academic Advisement
    Develop and utilize test protocols and test cases for Academic Advisement to ensure quality
    control.
    Develop and utilize PeopleSoft Query Manager and/or SQL Developer for data gathering and data integrity.
    Assist with technical upgrades, ongoing maintenance, and the continuous improvement of the Academic Advisement GPAS Planner, GPAS degree audits, and GPAS exceptions system.
  • Document, update, and improve procedures, user guides, and business process guides involving all aspects of Academic Advisement.
  • Provide user support for college and departmental staff through direct support, training, and quarterly user group meetings.
  • Apply and integrate knowledge of university business processes with new and innovative applications to maximize the delivery of services to support degree progress and clearance.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of professional relevant experience or a Master's degree.

Preferred Qualifications (Core Competencies)

  • Experience with a student information system (PeopleSoft preferred).
  • Experience with a degree audit system.
  • Experience with a curriculum management system (Coursedog preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of requirements definition techniques.
  • Development experience with SQL or another programming language.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technology concepts effectively with technically proficient and non-technically proficient individuals.
  • Ability to sufficiently understand and analyze data to recognize data anomalies and problems and suggest corrective actions.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $68,000 - $75,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
