Job Summary

The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is approximately 3 months. The percent effort of this position will be variable between 50-100% (20-40 hours/week) depending on business needs.

The Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases is searching for a temporary Post Award Analyst.
The Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND) at UCSF is pursuing a cutting-edge blend of basic science and clinical medicine to provide outstanding care to those suffering from neurodegenerative diseases. Founded in 1999, the IND is committed to creating therapeutics that will halt diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and dementia resulting from traumatic brain injuries. The IND is poised to make serious contributions to this struggle at the frontier of neuroscience and medicine. The mission of the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases is to discover causes and develop cures for these illnesses with an innovative program of basic research and clinical medicine. The IND is directed by Nobel Laureate Stanley B. Prusiner, MD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Allowability, Period of Availability, and Closeout

    • Ensure compliance with Cost Accounting Standards to prevent disallowance of costs.
    • Verify General Ledger and reconcile departmental expenditures for accuracy and allowability.
    • Clear overdrafts and remove unallowable costs.
  • Cost Transfers

    • Prepare cost transfers as needed.
  • Financial Status Reports

    • Prepare and submit financial status reports in coordination with CGA.
    • Prepare final Reporting Certifications in coordination with CGA.
    • Process journals/SCTs accepted by CGA.
  • Other Post-Award Activities

    • Perform additional post-award tasks as assigned, with primary responsibilities in the above categories.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range. Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications


  • 2+ years of post-award analyst experience at UCSF
  • Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines for Federal and non-Federal sponsors
  • Proficiency with UCPath, PeopleSoft Financials, MyReports, and other UC/UCSF systems
