About the role:

Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Interventional Cardiology Therapies (ICTx) R&D Software Team. The successful candidate will be a data visionary and team leader in the design and development of medical device software. Be a part of Boston Scientific's growing ICTx R&D team as we develop innovative products that sustain and improve the lives of patients around the world. You will use your technical and collaboration skills alongside your passion for data, innovation, and continuous improvement to help drive our product development forward.

Work Mode:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our Maple Grove, MN office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:



  • Develop databases and data pipelines to enable organized and fast ingestion and handling of medical imaging data and annotations used in machine learning algorithms
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, cloud data engineers, and software engineers to create virtual platforms to host advanced software prototypes and implement solutions to manage machine learning models from exploratory development to production
  • Investigate, research, and recommend appropriate software designs, processes, and tools for dataset organization, controls, and traceability
  • Participate in design and code-reviews
  • Participate in Agile software development process and work towards achieving individual and team goals
  • Coordinate and collaborate with local and global team members
  • Continuously improves process and work methodologies by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes
  • Implement governance frameworks that enforce healthcare and data regulations to data architecture
  • Lead with integrity and encourage responsible experimentation and innovation



Required qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science or related field
  • 6+ Years of relevant work experience with Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ Years of relevant work experience with Masters or PhD
  • 2+ years of consistent coding in Python
  • Proficient in Linux and Windows environments, with a solid grasp of OS concepts
  • Strong understanding and use of relational databases - SQL
  • Experience with Machine learning development frameworks and tools
  • Experience with AWS and cloud technologies
  • Strong ability and desire to explore new technical solutions autonomously and explain complex technical ideas in simple, strategic terms
  • Foundational knowledge in machine learning operations



Preferred qualifications:



  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Chain
  • Image and signal processing algorithms and tools
  • Manipulating tabular metadata using SQL and Python's Pandas library
  • Manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
  • Cleaning data for supervised learning problems
  • Convolutional neural networks
  • Data and annotation version control tools and processes
  • Data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, scientific Python libraries)
  • Developing software within the medical device industry (or comparable highly-regulated environment)
  • Agile or Kanban methodologies
  • Familiar with testing frameworks, preferrably Pytest.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 11), GDPR for medical device data governance.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
