Job Summary:



The Finance Coordinator is responsible for understanding the funds flow for operational and clinical activities between and within the University of Colorado, University of Colorado Medicine (CU Medicine/UPI), affiliate hospitals, and community practice locations for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This position will perform a variety of business and financial-related tasks and analysis. Key Responsibilities:

Operations and Financial Administration (50%)



  • Develops and enters annual budgets, including State, Auxiliary, gift accounts, and other fund types.
  • Creates and enters CU Medicine and CU budgets. Enters and/or requests journal entries to complete budgetary commitments. Monitors the loading of budgets to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Manage clinical contract billing and reconciliation through CU Medicine.
  • Prepares, submits, and monitors completion of requests for new Speedtypes, end date extensions, and budget adjustments
  • Conducts first approval review of CU and CU Medicine expense reports, department travel request forms, and CU Medicine payment vouchers created by administrative staff for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Serves as the departmental procurement and contract resource, being the liaison between vendors, the Department, the Procurement Service Center, and the CU Medicine Contracting team. Act as a resource to staff and faculty on purchasing activities and provide direct training as necessary.


Reporting and Analysis (30%)



  • Performs monthly financial reconciliation of CU Medicine and CU general ledgers. Identify any variances and bring them to leadership's attention, and/or complete Journal Entries to correct errors.
  • Review and analyze monthly revenue cycle reports, update financial dashboards, and provide insights and observations to support data-driven decision-making
  • Data entry and maintenance of departmental databases
  • Prepares monthly budget reconciliations and reports utilizing A2E, CU-Data, and other data sources and systems.
  • Builds new financial reporting tools, including custom reports and dashboards for faculty and staff.
  • Routes, tracks, and invoices contracts through CU Medicine and the University of Colorado
  • Recognizes the need for, prepares, and processes Journal Entries (JEs), Payroll Expense Transfers (PETs), and funding distribution updates in compliance with internal and external policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an organized centralized file system for all business and financial documentation, including internal process documents


Support (20%)



  • Process and maintain departmental Sites of Practice (SOP). Routinely review active SOPs to determine status and accuracy.
  • Maintains updated clinical schedules in Qgenda. Calculates, submits, and corrects (as needed) clinical FTEs for all clinical providers billing through CU Medicine.
  • Interprets and shares best practices with department staff and faculty, for procurement and travel guidelines and appropriate procedures concerning processing reimbursements, procurement, and accounts payable.
  • Assist with special projects and assignments as assigned by the Manager.

Principal Professionals either work as leads over others or are considered subject matter experts in a particular area.



Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Senior Professional



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in finance, budgets, and/or financial data analysis


Principal Professional



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Three to five (3-5) years of progressive experience in finance, budgets, and/or financial data analysis


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working in higher education or a medical setting
  • Experience with computer programs relevant to finance, budgeting, patient accounting, or other business areas


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Intermediate to advanced level/skill in Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and follow through
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Provides concise and articulate communication to include routine contact via video conferencing, phone, and emails, requiring outstanding verbal and written skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service, while ensuring fiscal compliance and adherence to rules
  • Ability to establish work priorities and ensure completion and resolution of problems
  • Ability to work independently, be flexible, and build and maintain positive working relationships

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

Senior Professional: $58,792 to $74,784

Principal Professional: $67,611 to $86,001

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
