What You'll Do

This position will be located at our Corporate Office: 2355 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85027

The BCP and Physical Security Support Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the continuity of business operations and the protection of physical assets. This position provides operational support for the credit union's Business Continuity Planning (BCP) initiatives, ensuring that emergency response plans are effective and regularly updated. Additionally, this role leads the credit union in maintaining a secure physical environment through effective security measures, monitoring systems, and coordination with external security providers.

Essential Functions

  • Leads in reviewing, updating, and maintaining the organization's BCP documentation and emergency protocols.
  • Develops a process for identifying critical business functions and recovery strategies creating a process for documentation. Leading teams in implementation in case of business disruptions.
  • Lead various departments in identifying and assessing risks that could impact business continuity.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for operational and IT-related disruptions.
  • Identify vendors to assist with BCP testing and coordinate and participate in regular BCP tests and simulations (e.g., disaster recovery drills, fire drills, etc.).
  • Track the effectiveness of tests and drills, providing feedback and strategize for ways to improve the process.
  • Provide support for incident management, including coordinating responses to emergency situations such as robberies, escalated member incidents and alarm issues.
  • Manage, maintain and distribute emergency contact lists and communication protocols.
  • Manage the operation of security systems, access control systems, and alarm systems.
  • Develop a process to ensure that all security equipment is functioning properly and conduct regular checks to identify any malfunctions.
  • Schedule and coordinate on-site security personnel, creating and providing prior to deployment to key locations.
  • Investigate and report any security incidents, including theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access.
  • Design and communicate a corporate wide security incident platform
  • Ensure proper documentation and communication of security events and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage access control policies and procedures to ensure that only authorized personnel can access restricted areas.
  • Oversee the issuance of security badges, keys, and other access devices to employees and contractors.
  • Conduct physical security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities or compliance issues.
  • Prepare and maintain records of inspections and audits for internal and external review.
  • Maintain and update BCP and security reports, providing regular status updates to senior management.
  • Prepare security reports, incident reports, and BCP test evaluations.
  • Develop and deliver training materials related to business continuity and physical security awareness for employees.
  • Authorized to make decisions regarding escalated situations and the need to engage law enforcement authorities.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness and preparedness across the organization.
  • The role may require occasional after-hours work for emergency response, drills, or security issues.
  • Some travel may be required for site assessments or external meetings.

What You Bring

Education

  • H.S. Diploma Required
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, security management, emergency management, or related field preferred.
  • Or equivalent years of experience.

Experience

  • 3-5 years similar or related experience in business continuity planning, emergency management, or physical security preferred.
  • 3-5 years similar or related experience in conducting risk assessments, BCP testing, or security monitoring is an advantage.
  • 3-5 years similar or related experience in industry best practices in security protocols and business continuity standards.
  • Financial Services experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and with external vendors.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and security management software.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification in Business Continuity (e.g., CBCP, MBCP).
  • Physical security certifications (e.g., PSP, CPP).
  • First Aid / CPR certified.
