Location: Syracuse, NY

Job type: Full-time, salaried

Reports to: Quality Manager

Compensation: 65,000$ - 80,000$ + bonus + benefits

Scope of the Position

The Quality Process Specialist assists in managing the integrity and training of Process & Quality functions for the facility. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the quality management program by ensuring that processes and procedures associated with the quality laboratory, production, shipping and receiving are appropriately conducted, monitored and approved. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; supporting the Plant with operational functions including product quality data management, plant audits, current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) compliance, SQF Food Safety Management validation/verification program, and the Document Management System (DMS).

What You Need To Be Successful

    Strong ability to understand and interpret operating & quality procedures
  • Ability to quickly modify as needed from start to finish in routing approval system.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for food ingredient processing.
  • Facilitate and track training of plant procedures with spot auditing in the field.
  • Technical work preferred or bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintenance and management of the on-site Quality program to include HACCP verification, SQF validation/verification program, internal audits and corrective actions.
  • Train and ensure operations personnel are trained to perform their duties safely.
  • Ensure all operations personnel know and receive their regulatory, safety, and environmental training.
  • Attend and conduct safety meetings and area inspections of the plant
  • Maintain records for quality, process & training documentation
  • Ensuring regular calibrations and verifications are performed and documented.
  • Author, update and route Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for review and approval to support continuous improvement.
  • Support Quality Manager with Annual Product Quality and Food Safety Review, documentation of training.
  • Assist with laboratory functions to include but are not limited to lab equipment calibration, product testing, ordering laboratory supplies, coordination of outside lab testing, and sample shipments to customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
