Primary Purpose of Position |
Reporting to the Associate Director of Career Branding, this position plays a key role in supporting student and alumni career development through project-based learning initiatives and direct student engagement. This position is responsible for implementing and managing the Coursera Career Academy, developing structured learning pathways, monitoring student participation, and assessing program impact. Additionally, the role oversees virtual internships and project-based learning experiences, managing student applications, selection processes, and program coordination. Beyond these initiatives, the position will dedicate a portion of its time to career education by delivering presentations, facilitating small group discussions, hosting drop-in career support services, and providing individual coaching as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in experiential learning, student engagement, and career development, with the ability to effectively manage programs and interact with diverse student populations. |
Summary of Position Responsibilities |
Project-Based Learning & Workplace Career Skills Curriculum Initiatives (85%)
- Implement and manage the Coursera Career Academy by implementing structured learning pathways for students, monitoring engagement and completion rates, and communicating with student groups to support their progress. Regularly review program data to assess impact and prepare reports on student outcomes.
- Oversee virtual internships and project-based learning opportunities by maintaining and enhancing the student application and selection process, ensuring a seamless experience for participants. Co-manage associated virtual courses and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize program effectiveness.
- Track and analyze program outcomes for both initiatives, gathering data to assess student participation, skill development, and career impact. Use findings to generate reports and recommend program enhancements.
- Coordinate the development of a Career Skills Course designed to help students explore and strengthen key career competencies identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
- Collaborate with campus partners to co-design engaging skill challenges, scenarios, and interactive learning experiences for an online, self-guided student course.
- Assist in the development of both Basic and Advanced levels of the course, ensuring content scaffolding and alignment with student development needs and employer expectations.
- Coordinate implementation strategies by working with academic departments, student support offices, and co-curricular programs to integrate the course into existing student pathways.
- Evaluate course effectiveness and partner feedback to refine content, improve student engagement, and scale adoption across the university.
Career Education (15%)
- Conducts presentations and group facilitated sessions with students and other departments/clubs on campus. Occasional evening and weekend presentations.
Occasional Coaching of Students - limited individual services for students and alumni about career exploration including site visits and job shadowing, self-assessment, career planning, internships and other experiential learning opportunities, resume writing, preparation for interviews including mock interviews, employment in related fields; includes one-on-one and group advising; includes drop-ins and full appointments.- Attends weekly staff meetings, training and planning meetings, and event team meetings. S/he participates on-site at career days and job fairs and other related events, as well as campus-wide programs, and assists with communication of these initiatives. They also serve on Division and University committees and participate in Division and University-wide programs and events as appropriate.

Minimum Education/Experience |
- Master's degree and 1-3 years of experience with student development, counseling, college student personnel, human resources, organizational development, or related area required.
- Experience administering comprehensive programs, conceiving of and facilitating organization-wide initiatives, and producing training and development materials.
- Demonstrated knowledge of career development concepts and theories, and strong verbal and written communications, organizational, management, delegation, and presentation skills required.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
- Understanding of project-based learning and experiential education in higher education settings.
- Experience managing student programs, including recruitment, engagement, and outcome tracking.
- Ability to analyze data and produce impact reports to assess student participation and program effectiveness.
- Strong communication and outreach skills to engage students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating virtual internships or work-based learning programs is a plus.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple initiatives and ensure program success.
- Demonstrated expertise in the student development process with both undergraduate and graduate professional students; knowledge of employment trends, awareness of key competencies needed, and impact of public policy on employment landscape in the Charlotte region.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, ability to negotiate and build campus coalitions.
- Skills in project management, process improvement strategies, and demonstrated ability to make the ordinary into the extraordinary - experience with innovation and lateral thinking.
- Open, friendly, personable attitude that is demonstrated through past experiences in working with teams of individuals, external partners, and during high-volume times.
