Position Overview

QinetiQ has an immediate opening for a Senior Production Planner at our Franklin, MA location. This position will support supply chain and manufacturing of mission critical products supporting the US Army and Navy. The Senior Planner will lead supply chain efforts to support our service members as they protect our country and families.



Responsibilities

The primary function of this position will be to translate project deliverable requirements into procurement & production actions to meet customer requirements. The selected candidate will plan, monitor, expedite and support material availability and end item delivery throughout the procurement, manufacturing and test phases. They will interface with Engineering to create and maintain accurate part masters and product structures within the MRP system, and will ensure that the required procurement information is appropriately routed for review and approval.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

    Coordinate, communicate, and prioritize the program needs through the setup, build and test phases, including supporting outside testing requirements, purchasing and non-conformance dispositions
  • Plan and schedule complex Bills Of Materials (BOMs) into the company MRP system (CostPointl) Create and update production work orders, tear down work orders, part specifications and repair work orders for all assigned jobs
  • Review and update data in Part Master to ensure data integrity (Revs, Quality Clauses, etc.)
  • Create requisitions for materials on BOM / sales orders for assigned programs and interface with Purchasing to create RFQ packages for quoting
  • Interfaces with Configuration Management to process Engineering Changes and manage all aspects of implementation within the supply chain and factory.
  • Review Deviations
  • Update CostPoint with release notices and notify purchasing when applicable
  • Ensure production kits are complete and ready for issue when required
  • Responsible for generating status reports of assigned jobs and identifying the root causes of delay and driving corrective action to overcome delays
  • Ensure the packaging needs are in place and meet the production requirements
  • Support unplanned issue requirements during the build MRB attendance/approvals to ensure purchasing and building to schedule
  • Update, As-built configuration in Visual and follow on activities.
  • Work to reduce inventory levels, avoid overages including scrapping material recommendations and yield for excess inventory
  • Attend program burn down meetings and push for resolution of parts at risk
  • Complete Sales Order closeout activity (i.e. work orders/purchase orders closed)


Required Qualifications

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience in production planning or scheduling 2 plus years working with MRP systems (experience with DELTEK CostPoint a plus)
  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of production BOM's
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Must be able to communicate effectively across all corporate levels in both verbal and written forms
  • Must have strong team skills and ability to solve complex problems
  • Must possess strong analytical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Must be proficient in MS Office with advanced knowledge in Excel
  • This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration regulations (EAR)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management
  • Experience as a Material or Production Planner in a low-volume, high product mix manufacturing environment.
  • Defense / Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Familiar with ITAR, FAR. EAR, ISO, AS9100, JIT, Kanban, Lean process techniques
