Job Summary

  • Reports to and works under the direct supervision of the Office Manager. The Medical Assistant/Clinical Office Coordinatorperforms a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of care which may include but is not limited to injections, EKGS, ear lavage and blood draws, performing patient vital signs, rooming patients, doing pre-visit preparation and participating in huddles with providers. The Medical Assistant will assist with the patient visit and also post-visit duties, scheduling follow up care, calling for prior authorizations and referral consults. The Medical Assistant will assist in triaging calls from patients and communicating patient concerns in EMR to the provider. The Medical Assistant willassist in managing the workflow of the schedule, insuring patients are being seen in a timely manner and communicating to the providers any schedule changes that impact patient flow. The Medical Assistant may assist with front office activities and varied scheduling tasks when necessary.

Job Function

  1. Prepares patients for physician (including vital signs, medication and allergy reconciliation prior to exam)
  2. Administer and record pediatric and adult immunizations
  3. Perform EKGS, ear lavage, blood draws, urine dips and other rapid tests the physicians may request.
  4. Assists physician during examination and procedures
  5. Triaging patient phone calls and addressing medication refill requests.
  6. Follow up to patients with results following physician's evaluation of tests.
  7. Answers incoming patient calls regarding medical questions and respond accordingly
  8. Monitor vaccine and clinical inventory and report to office manager.
  9. Maintains and supports patient's rights to care, privacy and respect.
  10. Assist with front office activities and varied scheduling tasks when necessary.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education
      • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred completion of a Medical Assistant course stronglypreferred.
    • Experience
      • Two to Four years of relevant work experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical/physician's office preferred.
      • One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred
      • Pediatric experience preferred
    • Licensure and/or Certification
      • State Certification preferred but not required.
    • Skills
      • Computer skills with the GE Centricity electronic medical record (EMR), Meditech preferred, and the ability to maintain confidential information, strong interpersonal communication skills on the phone and in person, customer service skills.
