JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Title: Part Time Research Assistant Department:Surgery/Plastic Surgery FLSA: Staff Part-time Level: Wage Summary of Job: The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to be the William P. Graham Clinical Research Fellow. A successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in laboratory research or clinical research and assigned a mentor with related interest and expertise. They will be responsible for performing the job duties listed: assisting in laboratory procedures in order to gain hands on experience in wet bench laboratory research; coordinate abstraction of patient data from charts in compliance with protocols while ensuring data consistency; and collecting, entering, and analyzing data. They will also enroll participants into clinical studies, retrieve tissues samples, and process the samples in the laboratory. In addition, they will submit abstracts and manuscripts for dissemination of scientific work. This on campus position is a part-time position working 24 hours a week or less for one year with the possibility of reappointment. Specific work hours are determined by the Division but will comply with the selected candidate's schedule. Recent college graduates/medical students are encouraged to apply. Ideally the candidate would have a long-term interest in pursuing a medical (MD/DO) or biomedical career (MS, PhD).
