Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an Early Careers Supervisor

to join our Final Assembly Line based in Mobile, AL.

The Early Careers Supervisor is responsible for the technical leadership and oversight of the Early Careers Apprentice programs within Airbus Mobile, ensuring effective coordination between multiple workstations and process and delivery of benchmark development and educational programs. This will be achieved through effective supervision to meet the required national standards/frameworks (where applicable) and effective coordination of various stakeholders. These stakeholders include (but are not limited to) the program participants, journeyman, and station supervisors, The Early Careers Supervisor will be individually responsible for approximately 25 program participants, ensuring effective business and personal communications, engagement; coaching and performance management to ensure the achievement of relevant academic, professional and behavioral standards.

Your challenges:

Primary Responsibilities

Early Career Program Supervision:

  • Directs all Early career apprentices within the Mobile FAL. This includes deployment of training models.

  • Responsible for the supervision of all employees assigned to the respective group. Includes performance management, identification of development needs, and employee recognition.

  • Function as a role model and leader in the observance of rules and regulations. Ensure the importance and company commitment to safety is in the forefront of thought and action on the part of every employee.

  • Coordinate and communicate Early Careers activities throughout the team, also to include management and communication of out-of-workstation activities such as meetings and training.

  • Responsible for the scheduling of training, qualification of team, and progression of team members.

  • Ensure all team members 100% compliance to all company policies and procedures.

  • Proactively identify and resolve problems to prevent disagreements and encourage cooperative work relationships. Engage with support staff from Quality, Procurement and other specialty areas to improve work flow and enhance existing processes.

  • Ensure the completion of specified work packages in compliance with costs, quality specifications and customer expectation.

  • Drives quality standards of the training program, on-going assessment of participants and curriculum improvement as the program progresses.

  • Creates trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and participants (HRBPs, Production customers and workforce development).

  • Supports the development solutions for multiple trades within the program.

  • Supports the Apprenticeship mentors program, from the application and matching process, through the training, feedback forms, closure and focus groups.

Your boarding pass:

  • High School degree or equivalent training or manufacturing industry experience.

  • Required Experience: 2 years of production and/or coaching experience.

  • Structured/detail oriented and results driven.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

  • Preferred Experience: Skilled relationship builder, ability to build relationships across various departments in the organization.

  • Experience with blended learning, curriculum development and instructional design.

  • 5-10% domestic travel.

  • Basic presentation and facilitation skills including verbal communication, listening and managing group dynamics.

  • Excellent time and priority management skills.

  • Intermediate level skills in both Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • The Early Careers Supervisor will support the decisions that relate to the organization of apprentice management, content and layout of communications and documents once key messages are agreed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Hearing: Daily. Able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

  • Carrying: Several times a week able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Lifting: Several times a week able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: Several times a week able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: Several times a week able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
