POSITION TITLE: Youth & Family outreach Coordinator

SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator assists with daily coordination and implementation for comprehensive youth & adult ministries. The Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator provides leadership for development and outreach programs including the planning, resourcing, leadership training and implementation of The Salvation Army's program standards. Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator is to develop outreach opportunities for drawing new families to the Corps from the Community. This position functions within the ministry team of the Corps.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Possess a positive Christian experience and be willing and able to share it.
- Experience in developing and implementing child and youth enrichment programs.
- At least six months' experience working with youth
- Have experience in youth ministry and programming
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
- Complete annual PTM training for work with minors.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Strong computer skills, Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and orally
- Must be 21 years or older and possess a valid WA drivers license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the first point of contact for parents who want to have their middle school & high school youth participate in programs.
- Ensure that attendance is taken at all youth programs
- Reach out to youth & families who have been absent for several weeks.
- Provide communication about youth ministries to parents, program leaders, corps members, and the community.
- Plan and implement special events involving families including, but not limited to, Family Outreach events, quarterly events, and seasonal events.
- Help coordinate and provide transportation for youth to and from programs.
- Along-side the Corps Officer and the Children's Ministry Coordinator, assist in the planning of Vacation Bible School. Recruit high school students to be rotation leaders.
- Attend youth ministry training, both Salvation Army and other, as assigned and approved by the Corps Officer to stay current on trends, ideas, and education relating to youth ministry.
- Must be able to lead chapel and provide Bible teaching for all ages.
- If bilingual, provide a Spanish bible study one evening per week
- Responsible for the proper training and record keeping regarding Protecting the Mission child safety training for all volunteers working with minors and vulnerable adults.
- Responsible for ensuring all parents have signed the necessary PTM forms for participation and transportation of youth. Forms should be kept in a file.
- Help coordinate and prepare resources for parents & youth.
- Youth Outreach at area schools, neighborhoods & any other avenues for reaching youth.
- Support Monday youth programming.
- Lead Corps Cadets and Bible Bowl as youth has interest.
- Plan, coordinate and implement other creative arts and music programs/lessons for youth, such as Christmas, Easter, youth fundraisers and other events.
- Attend all staff meetings and events as required.
- Assist with the Christmas Kettle program as requested including but not limited to driving, picking up kettles and/or donations, counting money etc.
- Plan, support and implement weekly Young People's Legion (YPL) (youth group).
- Keep track of and submit statistical reports.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Corps Officers.
- Provide and/or assist with transportation of youth for Corps programs as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to operate a telephone.
- Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, and Printer.

Sick Leave: 12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months' service time
Paid Vacation:
- Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions.
- Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions.
- Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months' service time.
Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
