Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose |
Under general direction, the Business Process Analyst is responsible for supporting the Executive Director of Finance and Administration in providing a wide range of business, budget, and accounting support. This position identifies process improvement opportunities and solves problems by analyzing current processes and requirements, documenting, recommending, and communicating processes to stakeholders at the School of Health Sciences (
SHS). |
Essential Functions |
- Process requests for payment to vendors, faculty, staff, and students in a timely manner.
- Prepare all reimbursement requests, journal entries, budget transfers, payment requests submitted by departments/programs within SHS for accuracy, completeness, and availability of budget to ensure supporting documentation is in compliance with University's policies and procedures.
- Oversee, review, and reconcile monthly ProCard statements for cardholders within SHS.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Finance and Administration for analyzing, reconciling, and tracking budgets on a regular basis to ensure proper recording of expenses and to ensure they do not exceed the allocated annual budget.
- Analyze spending for departments operational budgets and reoccurring monthly expenses to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Prepares and maintains detailed financial dashboards, budget spreadsheets, and reports to facilitate planning and decision making on a variety of budgetary analyses involving departments/programs.
- Prepares and reviews forms and service agreements for independent contractors engaging in business with SHS. Responsible for coordinating and working closely with third parties and departments/programs to ensure proper forms are executed and approved in compliance with the University's policies and procedures.
- Process Improvements: analyzes financial data, identifies areas for efficiency gains, and develops strategies to optimize budget allocation and financial performance.
- Works with the Executive Director to track spending allocations, ensuring compliance, and providing grant analysis and reporting.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and reaches complex decisions regarding journal entries, budget transfers, account reconciliations, purchasing, accounts receivable, and payable.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Three (3) years of experience processing financial and/or accounting records.
- Three (3) years of experience using standard office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Master of Business Administration.
- Knowledge and ability to independently reach difficult decisions utilizing professional judgment.
- Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
- Multitasking skills are needed to coordinate and organize multiple complex projects and tasks, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Experience in a highly automated office environment with knowledge of Banner and Cobblestone software.
- Ability to generate financial reports to accommodate a diverse set of needs and users.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range |
$26.63 - $35.29 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
