The Stem Cell and Gene Therapy (SCGT) program is recruiting a Research Technician I-II with a focus on bench research to participate in the development of gene and cell therapies to treat HIV or other diseases.



Responsibilities

Duties may include processing and analysis of primary blood and tissue samples for flow cytometry, PCR, sterile cell culture work with a focus on primary B cells. The position involves additional responsibilities, such as B cell manufacture, culture/analysis of cells infected with HIV and related viruses and data analysis. The candidate should be motivated to participate in sample processing and analysis from preclinical modeling experiments. This position affords the motivated technician an opportunity to develop/utilize both tissue culture and molecular biology skills. The candidate must also be comfortable working with potentially infectious material and biosafety level 2+ techniques.



Qualifications

Research Technician I:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study
  • Demonstrated basic laboratory skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of laboratory experience.
  • Experience with cell culture and/or molecular biology techniques e.g. PCR.
  • Previous experience using blood processing.
  • Knowledge or experience maintaining and ordering materials in addition to excellent record keeping skills.
  • Be highly motivated, possess a high level of initiative and attention to details.
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral) plus an ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Familiarity with computer programs including Microsoft Office, FlowJo, Graphpad Prism, and/or similar products.

Research Technician II:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in biological science.
  • Previous experience using primary B cells, Crispr-Cas9 editing and ELISA.
  • Experience with cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, and/or molecular biology techniques e.g. quantitative PCR.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral) plus an ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Highly motivated, possess a high level of initiative and attention to details.
  • Knowledge or experience maintaining and ordering materials in addition to excellent record keeping skills.
  • Familiarity with computer programs including Microsoft Office, FlowJo, Graphpad Prism, and/or similar products.

Research Technician I: The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.87 to $32.56 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Research Technician II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $26.48 to $37.70 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
