Role Summary:
Reporting to the Distribution Center Manager, the Pipe Handling Associate II is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the logistics department and indirectly supporting the overall sales function. Pipe Handling Associate II's are essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the location, a Pipe Handling Associate II's main responsibility is ensuring pipe is packaged and staged according to company standards.
Exciting work you will do:
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Pipe Handling Associate II position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
- Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
- Performing defined warehouse activities specific to the receipt, placement into inventory, selection for shipment, and shipment of stock
- Receive inventory accurately and promptly
- Pick and pack orders accurately and promptly
- Accurately identify and count inventory in assigned areas
- Restock inventory in designated storage areas
- Truck loading and unloading according to established procedures
- Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
- Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc.
- Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of warehouse
- Check assigned equipment for proper operation and communicate problems to Distribution Center Manager
- Follow proper pipe bundling procedures
- Assist fab shop with pipe staging
- Loading of pipe for customer will-call orders
- Work in conjunction with Team Lead and be able to support in backup role
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Other warehouse tasks as assigned

What you'll need:
- Work Experience: 2 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, and pipe or steel handling
- Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to computerized bar code scanner, printer, and standard warehouse equipment/tools/machines/vehicles; basic math and reasoning skills
- Organization Skills: Excellent work ethic, good verbal, and communication skills; ability to work independently
- Cross-functional skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Distribution Center Manager
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects
- Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50lbs
- Ability to stand/walk/lift, pull, and push during entire work shift
- Ability to climb stairs/step ladders up to 16 steps
- Physical Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to temperature conditions prevalent at the time (unheated warehouse space and outdoor conditions); the noise level in the work environment is consistent with that of a distribution center
Qualifications we prefer but don't require:
- Work Experience: Certification in the operation of a forklift truck would be considered a plus
