About the Company/Opportunity: Vaco is partnering with a fast-growing, private equity-backed life sciences company to hire an Accounting Manager. Recognized for its cutting-edge work in biotech research and services, this company is entering a critical growth phase and needs a strategic, hands-on accounting leader to help scale its financial operations. Location: Sorrento Valley, San Diego, CA (Fully Onsite) Job Title:Accounting Manager Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 base Job Overview:In this role, you'll work closely with senior leadership and be a key contributor to the finance team. You'll join a small, collaborative environment where your contributions will directly influence the company's ability to scale. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced settings, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and is ready to take on ownership of core accounting functions. Responsibilities: Lead the month-end close process and ensure financials are GAAP-compliant. Manage daily accounting operations including AP, AR, and Payroll. Supervise and mentor a staff accountant. Handle complex accounting areas including revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and lease accounting. Prepare annual financial statements and technical memos. Interface with auditors, investors, and other external stakeholders. Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements. Qualifications: 4+ years of accounting experience with a strong foundation in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm strongly preferred) Industry experience in Life Sciences CPA license (active or in-progress) Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems Management Experience Perks & Benefits: Fully covered health insurance plan for employees and dependents Generous PTO Package Fully stocked kitchen and collaborative work environment Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
