Job Description

The Senior Human Resources Specialist plays a critical role in delivering consistent, high quality recruitment support to departments both at the University of Missouri - Columbia and UM System. The position serves as an operational lead within the HR recruitment function, managing complex recruitment processes, ensuring policy and process compliance, and providing consultative support to hiring departments and team members. This position will lead the Office of Human Resources' efforts to implement and enhance the Unpaid Appointments process and be a direct point of contact for hiring departments and candidates working through this process.

Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary liaison for unpaid appointment processing and background check adjudication, ensuring compliance and timely resolution.
* Provide advanced recruitment operations support for hiring processes, including escalated decision making related to job postings, applicant services, candidate screening, compensation analysis, offer generation, background check adjudication, and requisition approvals.
* Support strategic process improvements aimed at enhancing recruitment efficiency, compliance, and overall service experience.
* Participate in cross-functional projects and committees focused on recruitment process enhancements, training facilitation, and policy development.
* Respond to requests for records and subpoenas for employee file information from OGC and external legal representatives.
* Manage and coordinate unemployment claim responses in collaboration with UM System Contacts.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in Human Resources, Recruitment, Administrative Support, and Higher Education
* Experience adjudicating criminal background checks
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to manage ongoing projects and work flows efficiently
* Ability to provide consultation to team members and hiring managers regarding various policies and procedures
* Familiarity with HR software such as eRecruit

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually

Grade: GGS-10
