Overview:
Fredrikson & Byron is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & HR Specialist for a temporary full-time role, expected to last between 9 and 12 months. This individual will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of payroll processing and HRIS data management. The position reports to the Payroll and HRIS Manager and is eligible for our full benefits package. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong technical and interpersonal skills to contribute to a collaborative HR team within a highly respected law firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage UltiPro Time Management (UTM), including weekly hour reviews, approvals, and payroll import creation.
Collaborate with departments on timesheet approvals and resolve any discrepancies in coordination with the Payroll Manager.
Review and prepare payroll for final approval; develop the ability to fully run payroll operations including wage computation, deductions, benefits, and compliance with tax and regulatory laws.
Generate payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.
Update 401(k) and loan changes weekly.
Conduct onboarding for new hires or employment changes that impact time tracking.
Lead benefits orientation and handle new hire/QLE enrollments and deduction reconciliation.
Perform HRIS data entry for all employment changes, with a strong focus on data integrity.
Maintain security access for HRIS users.
Manage and update PTO balances and processing.
Support data review and clean-up to ensure system accuracy.
Serve as the first point of contact for Tier 1 employee inquiries related to payroll, time, and benefits.
Lead the beneficiary designation project.
Assist with other projects as assigned by the Payroll/HRIS Manager.
Hybrid - On-site in our Minneapolis office 2 days/week
Our Ideal Candidates Will Have:
5+ years of experience in both payroll and HRIS system configuration/data integrity
Bachelor's degree in business, HR, or a related field
Basic understanding of employee benefits
Proven ability to build cooperative working relationships across teams
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight or changing deadlines

The salary range for this position varies by geographical market. In Minneapolis, the estimated starting annual pay range is $70,000-$75,000. The compensation offered will be dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, education, professional background, overall qualifications, and geographic market location.
