Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Production Scheduler to be based out of our Harvey, Illinois facility. Reporting to the Production Control Manager, this person will be responsible for supporting manufacturing areas by planning plant production based on stocking levels, maintaining production schedules, tracking production, and reviewing any factors affecting schedules.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of production supply chain management, engineering, scheduling/demand planning experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Coordinate cross functional teams for maintaining master data (contract manufacturing)
  • Champion the contract manufacturing process (become single point of contact)
  • Distribute and manage weekly open order reports w/3rd party suppliers
  • Drive continuous improvement, including updating standard work and best practices


  • Evaluate production demand and determine schedule dates to meet customers' order. Track production to ensure delivery dates will be met.
  • Develop the production schedule based on targeted inventory levels with input from Sales and Operations.
  • Prioritize production schedules based on supply chain deficits, product demand and sales forecasts.
  • Coordinate and work with all departments including Operations to exceed the company departmental and customer's goals and objectives. Maintain communication/collaboration with customer service/ supply planning.
  • Reconcile inventory variances. Manage multiple work activities and frequently changing priorities. Review product forecasts for new, existing, and discontinued items
  • Develop relevant performance metrics, monitor performance, and issue weekly and monthly reports.
  • Support performance and process procedures. Review output level to established target levels and production compliance, monitor, and report shortages and make management aware of any potential shortages. Lead route cause corrective action
  • Perform all work in accordance with established departmental work instructions.

What you'll bring:



  • 3-5 years of production scheduling/demand planning experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in business in a manufacturing environment, supply chain management, or relevant field.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Capability to prioritize and plan efficiently and effectively in an ever-changing customer service environment.
  • Satisfaction driven environment; Ability to thrive in a fast-paced high-volume environment.
  • Flexibility within a diverse organization is a must; Self-motivated, self-directed. Ability to work remote as necessary while maintaining appropriate communications with area management and internal customers.
  • Ability to direct workflow, manage others and be an effective decision maker.
  • Attention to detail; Organized; Self driven, self-starter.
  • Ability to develop processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadline in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with creating reports/tools in Power BI, Tableau, MS Access, creating macros, and/or Pivot tables is a plus. Familiarity with ERP systems (JDE, SAP, etc.) strongly preferred.


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program and how your job will deliver Atkore's Business System through Lean Daily Management and the Strategy Deployment Process.
  • Gain an understanding of the production team and how we support and deliver results.
  • Gain an understanding of the materials and resources needed to be effective and successful in your role.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Fully understand the planning, scheduling, procurement, and inventory processes as well as labor planning for production.
  • Create work instructions to standardize requirements related to the position.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Deliver on projects that positively impacts the business.
  • Provide support for key initiatives that deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Help find opportunities and bring new solutions with a focus on continuous improvement.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $63,200 - $86,900. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
