Temple University's Athletics Department is searching for an Assistant Field Hockey Coach.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Head Field Hockey Coach, the Assistant Coach contributes to the development of a competitive Division I Field Hockey program. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Coach lies in instructing student-athletes in the sport of field hockey. Additionally, the Assistant Coach is tasked with evaluating and recruiting qualified student-athletes to Temple University, ensuring that their athletic capabilities enhance the program's competitiveness while their academic qualifications reflect their potential for a meaningful academic experience and successful graduation from Temple University.

The Assistant Field Hockey Coach aids the Head Coach by exemplifying leadership and integrity within the framework established by the Head Coach. This role encompasses, but is not limited to, the creation, planning, organization, motivation, communication, and management of aspects related to recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, and associated booster clubs. It is expected that the Assistant Field Hockey Coach conducts themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the University, the Department, and the sport, both on and off the field of competition. Moreover, the Assistant Field Hockey Coach is anticipated to possess knowledge of and adhere to the NCAA regulatory policies that govern their sport, as well as NCAA and conference policies concerning recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business, sports management, or physical education. At least two (2) years of previous Field Hockey experience as a collegiate coach and/or collegiate student-athlete. Experience administering Division I NCAA rules. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:



  • NCAA Division I experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and allocating a budget.
  • Demonstrated experience fundraising towards the achievement of program goals.


Required Skills & Abilities:



  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to assist with budgeting, scheduling, meal planning, coaching, recruiting, scouting, purchasing, and caring for equipment.
  • Ability to implement policies and guidelines for all Field Hockey personnel and student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, strong leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work a highly variable schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.


Preferred:



  • NCAA Division I experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and allocating a budget.
  • Demonstrated experience fundraising towards the achievement of program goals.
