Overview

Position Description The Senior Manager Trade Compliance (Americas) ensures that QIAGENs trade activities in the Americas region comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. This individual leads a team and works closely with various departments to develop, implement, and maintain effective trade compliance programs. - Trade Compliance: Oversee and manage all trade compliance processes in the light of evolving trade regulations in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and rest of LATAM, including customs laws, sanctions, embargoes, and export controls. Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to stakeholders. - Policy Development: Develop and enforce trade compliance processes and procedures to ensure legal adherence. - Broker Management: Track and monitor broker performance with the aim to optimize the accuracy of customs declarations and the compliance with customs clearance lead times. - Risk Assessment: Conduct regular assessments to identify and mitigate trade compliance risks. Address issues proactively and develop strategies to minimize penalties and liabilities. - Training and Awareness: Provide training to employees involved in international trade. Foster a culture of compliance through ongoing education and awareness initiatives. - Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, tax, supply chain, and logistics, to integrate trade compliance into business operations. - External Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, trade associations, and industry peers to stay informed on regulatory changes and best practices. Represent the company in discussions with regulatory authorities. - Audits and Investigations: Coordinate internal audits and investigations to ensure compliance. Address findings and implement corrective actions. Manage external customs import/export audits and coordinate internal support activities. - Team Leadership: Lead and manage a small team of trade compliance professionals. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and provide direction, support, and resources for success. Position Requirements - Bachelor's degree in business, Law, International Relations, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification in trade compliance preferred. - Extensive experience in trade compliance roles within multinational corporations, with a focus on import/export regulations, sanctions, and export controls (10+ years). - Strong knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, including US customs and export control laws. - Proven ability to develop and implement trade compliance programs that manage risk and ensure regulatory compliance. Personal Requirements - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels and represent the company to government agencies and industry groups. - Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address emerging trade compliance issues. - Leadership experience, including managing teams and driving cross-functional collaboration (8+ years) What we offer At the heart of QIAGEN are our people who drive our success.
