Position description

The Self & Society Laboratory directed by Dr. Stephen Antonoplis in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside, invites applications for a Post-doctoral Research Scholar in Social/Personality Psychology to begin Fall quarter 2025 at the earliest (start date can be flexible).

The lab conducts research related to the development of personality traits and self-concept; the psychology of socioeconomic conditions; and social openness, cross-race relationships, and prejudice. The lab focuses on individual differences and psychological measurement in all three of these areas and primarily works with existing, archival, longitudinal datasets, though there are opportunities for data collection (e.g., surveys or experiments). More information is available on the lab's website.

This is a two-year position, with possible extension depending on performance and the success of applications for external funding. The salary range for this position is $66,737-$80,034, based on experience level. A Ph.D. in personality psychology, social psychology, or a related field is required.

The primary criterion for acceptance is research excellence and fit with the lab's focus. We especially encourage applications from candidates with proven experience in working with existing, archival datasets to answer social scientific questions and from candidates with advanced quantitative skills. Most of all, we value curiosity and interest about topics studied in the lab and a collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities:

* Conduct research in personality and social psychology, broadly construed, independently and in collaboration with Dr. Stephen Antonoplis and other lab members.

* Lead contributions to high-quality scientific journals and conference presentations.

* Contribute to grant writing

* Participate in the lab and department community and contribute to mentorship of junior lab members.

Complete applications must contain: a cover letter briefly describing fit with the lab's research, an updated CV, Research statement, two published research papers, names and contact information for three references.

Review of applications will begin on July 14 and will continue until the position has been filled. Applications received by July 14 will receive full consideration.

Please note that candidates are not required to have a current U.S. work visa in order to apply; J-1/H-1B visas may be sponsored for the selected candidate.

Please contact Dr. Stephen Antonoplis, stephen.antonoplis@ucr.edu, with any questions.
