JRAD is seeking candidates for a Junior IT Specialist position responsible for providing technical support for end-users, assists with system maintenance, and supports IT operations. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals starting their career in information technology who are eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The position is a remote/telework position with frequent on-site meetings at the TSA HQs (Springfield, VA).
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, deployment, and maintenance of an existing IT enterprise system to include Software resources.
- Serve as the starting point for resolving advanced technical issues across systems, networks, and applications.
- Manage cybersecurity compliance activities in accordance with standards such as NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, or ISO 27001.
- Evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to improve system efficiency and reliability.
- Support configuration and change management processes, ensuring proper documentation and system integrity.
- Support end-user services, including troubleshooting and improving support operations.
- Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and vendors to align IT services with organizational goals.
- Monitor and analyze system performance; implement proactive measures to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system outages and incidents.
- Collaborate with network engineers, cybersecurity teams, and application developers to integrate and support mission-critical services
Required Skills and Education:
Candidate must possess the following:
- Associate's degree or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-2 years of IT support or help desk experience.
- Current experience with TSA's Security Technology Integration Program (STIP) is required for this contract.
- Basic knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office, and common enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with hardware components and troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, work well in a team, and show initiative in problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or other entry-level IT certification.
- Experience with help desk software or ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk).
- Exposure to Active Directory, Office 365, or cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Interest in pursuing further IT certifications and career advancement.
Security Clearance:
Candidate must:
- Be able to pass DHS suitability screening or DHS financial responsibility standards.
- Have or be eligible to receive a DHS Secret security clearance. Existing Secret Clearance is a plus.
