JRAD is seeking candidates for a Mid-Level Database Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance databases and data models that support enterprise systems. The role includes data integration, performance optimization, and enforcing data governance and security policies. This position works closely with application developers, data analysts, and system architects to support mission-critical operations and business intelligence initiatives.. The position is on site at TSA (Springfield, VA). Roles/Responsibilities:
- Design and implement logical and physical database structures for enterprise applications and data warehouses.
- Develop and maintain data models, ER diagrams, and metadata repositories.
- Create, tune, and monitor database objects such as tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Optimize SQL queries and database configurations to ensure high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with software development teams to ensure proper integration and normalization of data.
- Implement and maintain data security standards, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
- Support data migration, ETL processes, and integrations between heterogeneous data systems.
- Document database standards, architecture, and workflows in accordance with organizational and compliance requirements.
- Participate in database design reviews, capacity planning, and technology evaluations.
- Provide support and mentoring to junior developers and database administrators.
Required Skills and Education: Candidate must possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in database architecture, development, or administration.
- Current experience with TSA's Security Technology Integration Program (STIP) is required for this contract.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with RDBMS platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL).
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques and normalization standards.
- Experience with data integration tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, or Talend) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
- Understanding of database security best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., Experience with NoSQL or big data technologies (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Liquibase).
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate, or AWS Certified Database - Specialty
- Exposure to BI/reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Experience with NoSQL or big data technologies (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop).
- Active DoD 8570-compliant certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+, CISSP).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS GovCloud, Azure Government.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
- Experience in DevSecOps or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environments.
- Preference for Tier III help desk experience.
Security Clearance: Candidate must:
- Be able to pass DHS suitability screening or DHS financial responsibility standards.
- Have or be eligible to receive a DHS Secret security clearance. Existing Secret Clearance is a plus.
