BACKGROUND:

The IRC's Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) department creates opportunities for refugees and other vulnerable migrants to gain stability and control of their future. RAI serves more than 100,000 individuals each year, through a diverse portfolio of programs aimed at five core outcomes: Health, Safety, Economic Wellbeing, Education and Power.

SCOPE OF WORK:

TheSenior Unaccompanied Children Caseworker (Senior Caseworker) provides trauma-informed case management and care coordination services to unaccompanied children and their households enrolledin IRC's Unaccompanied Children's Crisis Assistance Program (UCCAP). UCCAP is a privately funded, 12-month program to supporting children and young adults (0-21) who entered the U.S. without a parent or legal guardian and were designated as unaccompanied children. Senior Caseworkers provide remote, brief intervention services to support clients and their households in accessing resources, services, and support that increase their safety and stability across abroadrange of areas including housing, medical, mental health, education and protection.The Senior Caseworker reports to the Program Officer and helps the Officer identify and cultivate resources in the client's service area.

This position must be based in either the Eastern or Central time zones.

Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conduct an initial intake and assessment with child, young adult and/or adult household member.
• Develop individual and family service plans that guide the provision of high quality, trauma-informed case management services.
• Provide case management services to ensure progress on individual service plans. This includes assisting children and their household members in accessing necessary services, including but not limited to legal services, health and mental health services, and education.
• Continually assess ongoing changes and conditions that could impact the safety, wellbeing, and successofclients.
• Provide crisis intervention services when necessary, including developing safety plans and involving Child Protective Services if needed.
• Use a child centered, developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed approach to address the needs and concerns of children and sponsors.
• Maintain a strong understanding of trauma-informed principles and approaches, protection and safeguarding, and mandatory reporting.
• Provide timely documentation of all case meetings, referrals and referral outcomes, and progress and outcomes in case file.
• Build and maintain relationships with community services providers in relevant areas.
• Maintain accurate records in electronic case files and required databases.
• Ensure the confidentiality of children and their cases.
• Provide direct and cash assistance to the children and their families as needed for urgent needs.
• Support the Project Manager with identifying resources for children and their families alongside helping to facilitate relevant client-facing workshops.

Job Requirements include but are not limited to:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Written and verbal fluency in Spanish and English
• Minimum of two years of related professional experience working with children, family reunification/ preservation, kinship care, foster care, child welfare, and/or conducting home studies required, or one year of related experience with a master's degree.
• Experience working with immigrant populations; experience working with unaccompanied children preferred.
• Knowledge of safety net systems, including navigating social services.
• Demonstrated success working effectively invarious global environments and contexts.
• Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.
• Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other platforms.

Working Environment:

• The Senior Caseworker provides virtual case management. A variable work schedule / hours including non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends will be required to accommodate clients' schedules.A private, dedicated workspace is required.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
