Summary



Michigan Technological University is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scholar to join an interdisciplinary research team led by Dr. Weihua Zhou and Dr. Jiguang Sun. The successful candidate will design and develop digital twin algorithms for computational fluid dynamics, contributing to innovative solutions in healthcare software systems. This role involves collaboration with research scientists, engineers, and medical physicians, as well as mentoring graduate students in research and development.



Responsibilities and Essential Duties



Design and develop digital twin algorithms for computational fluid dynamics, contributing to innovative solutions in healthcare software systems.
Develop fast algorithms/ theory for eigenvalue problems.
Collaborate with research scientists, engineers, and medical physicians.
Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work and apply continuous improvement strategies to everyday work.



Required Education, Certifications, Licensures



Ph.D. in Computational/Applied Mathematics or Computer Science. Degree must have been earned within 72 months prior to beginning of appointment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities



Demonstrated experience in computation/computer algorithms, as evidenced by relevant publications.



Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities



Proficiency in programming; experience in Python for machine learning and/or digital image processing is preferred.

Strong communication skills, both in formal written reports/manuscripts and oral presentations.



Language, Mathematics and/or Reasoning Skills





Work Environment and/or Physical Demands


The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

The selected candidate will receive a fellowship to support their research. The position begins on September 1, 2025. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
