Business Unit: Cubic Defense Company Details: We are seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to serve as a strategic technical leader and subject matter expert in systems engineering. This role is responsible for the design and development of secure communications and networking for highly specialized military and security forces of the U.S. and allied nations. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of leadership in high-impact engineering initiatives. Job Details:

Works independently as a systems engineering leader, applying engineering principles, procedures and techniques to perform systems engineering assignments related to the development of electronic and software intensive systems and subsystems. This role is responsible for driving the development of complex systems and architectures, influencing long-term technology strategies, and guiding cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions. Provides technical guidance, leadership and supervision. Coordinates systems engineering activities for proposals/new business. Hybrid T, W, Th on-site, 9/80 work schedule. Travel up to 20%.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical direction to team members and managers. Outlines and communicates the most appropriate technical approach for business development activities.
  • Identifies, investigates and resolves complex technical issues.
  • Serve as a principal advisor and technical authority on critical system-level decisions
  • Apply extensive knowledge of systems engineering principles, practices, and tools to guide the development of new technologies and architectures.
  • Requirements Analysis, Specification Writing, Integration Planning and Procedures Development.
  • Plans and evaluates architectural design, reviews system performance, and identifies technical risks and associated ways to mitigate those risks.
  • Analyzes system design problems and performs design studies.
  • Directs, coordinates and contributes to compilation and writing sections proposal documents.
  • Prepares design proposals to reflect cost, time and alternative solutions.
  • Identifies systems engineering process improvements and enforces the execution of them across the organization.
  • Creates and maintains knowledge of and follows applicable policies and procedures governing work assignments.
  • Serves as team lead and assumes additional technical and leadership responsibilities as needed to solve engineering problems or develop improved engineering processes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience with Communication Systems.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance and a Top Secret or TS/SCI or higher clearance, highly preferred if one is already in place.
  • Four-year college degree in electrical engineering or related technical discipline, plus a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or a master's degree with 8 years of experience.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to evaluate intangible variables and develop strategic solutions Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering methodologies, including requirements analysis, system architecture, integration, and validation.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical programs Ability to effectively interface with stakeholders, and deal professionally and effectively with employees and managers at all levels both within and outside of the engineering organization.
  • Must be able to work under project deadline pressures, and associated cost and schedule constraints.

Preferred:

  • Experience with secure RF for line of site, beyond line of site, and networked communications.
  • Knowledge of Local (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN) systems and technology such as Network protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, etc. and network hardware like switches, router, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Expertise with mobile/wireless ad hoc networks (MANETs).

Cubic Pay Range:

$160,000.00 - $180,000.00 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
