Reports to:
Executive Director of Innovation and Technology Services

Qualifications:
Required
  • High School diploma plus 2 years post-secondary education in computer programming, Information Technology or related field
  • 3 years' experience in related areas
  • Knowledge of and experience working with SQL, databases, Active Directory, Microsoft products, importing/exporting of data, training, and customer service
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users and other diverse audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
Preferred
  • 3 years Minnesota School District work experience
  • Experience with major student information systems (e.g. Skyward)
  • Familiarity with educational data privacy laws, including FERPA

Positions Summary:
The Information Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and effective operation of the district's core information systems. This position is responsible for the support, maintenance, and administration of various data systems, with a primary focus on the Student Information System (SIS). The ideal candidate will be a technical and analytical problem-solver with a passion for supporting educational excellence through technology. This role serves as a vital bridge between the technology department and end-users, including administrators, teachers, and staff, to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

Salary:
$26.00/hr-$32.00/hr (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties:
  • System Administration & Support:
    • Administer, maintain, and provide technical support for the district's Student Information System (e.g., Skyward) and other integrated software applications.
    • Manage user accounts, security roles, and access permissions in accordance with federal, state, and district policies and data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA).
    • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, data discrepancies, and user-reported problems in a timely and effective manner.
    • Perform routine system maintenance, including updates, patches, and data backups, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Data Management & Reporting:
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of student and staff data through regular audits, validation checks, and data cleansing procedures.
    • Assist district and school staff in utilizing system features for data analysis to support student achievement and administrative decision-making.
    • Create and maintain documentation for system processes, data standards, and reporting procedures.
  • Integration & Implementation:
    • Assist in the implementation of new software systems and modules that integrate with the SIS and other core platforms.
    • Serve as a technical point of contact for third-party vendors and applications that connect to district systems (e.g., learning management systems, assessment platforms, library software).
    • Test and evaluate new system functionalities to determine their applicability and potential impact on district operations.
  • User Training & Collaboration:
    • Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for district staff on the effective use of information systems.
    • Collaborate with various departments, including Curriculum & Instruction, Special Education, and Business Services, to understand their data needs and provide appropriate system-based solutions.
    • Communicate system changes, updates, and outages to all relevant stakeholders in a clear and proactive manner.
