SMUD is looking for a highly motivated leader that has strong leadership skills, that can lead very independently. This leader will need to be passionate about embracing new technology in the meter space and successfully integrate these advanced technology changes into the Meter Technicians' and Customer Service Field Representatives' daily work. Purpose
To provide management, supervision and accountability in a variety of field metering areas including but not limited to field metering services, meter installation, scheduling, AMI system metering & maintenance, power quality, and energy accounting for SMUD electrical interchanges. Nature and Scope
Manages the planning, coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring, and reviewing of the work results in assigned area; oversees the selection, training, motivation, evaluation, and development of subordinate personnel and ensures safe work practices, work quality and accuracy, sufficient workforce resources, as well as compliance with applicable rules, policies, regulations and procedures. Guides the development, implementation and management of department goals, objectives, policies in partnership with the Director and ensures the department's objectives and priorities are coordinated with other departments. Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent. Required Experience Qualifications
At least seven (7+) years of relevant experience with at least five (5+) years in a supervisor or higher role. Knowledge Of
Safety policies, practices and procedures; general understanding of methods, material, equipment, and procedures related to metering, testing, installation, maintenance, repair and calibration of different types of metering equipment; federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations governing SMUD's transmission and/or distribution systems; methods and techniques for training staff; policies and procedures for evaluating and recording performance results; policies and procedures for recruiting, screening and hiring; methods and techniques for record keeping; concepts and practices for delegating, prioritizing, assigning and reviewing work assignments; techniques related to customer relations; fundamentals and practices for budget administration; concepts, techniques and practices for problem research and resolution; techniques and practices related to negotiations and compromise; concepts and practices for contract management; procedures and practices for overseeing contractor's/consultant's work activities; standard operating procedures for modern office equipment including a computer and applicable software; English grammar, punctuation and vocabulary standards. Establish and maintain effective working relationships internally/externally; coach, mentor, motivate, influence, challenge, and develop subordinate staff; coordinate the work of the unit with other SMUD entities; initiate, maintain and oversee adherence to safety policies and procedures; interpret and apply SMUD policies procedures, applicable MOU and/or other special agreements; plan, organize, direct, control, and review the work of others; prepare performance plans and evaluations for staff; identify and assess training needs for staff; respond to and resolve customer issues, concerns and needs; apply applicable laws, codes and regulations; interpret, evaluate and apply pertinent policies, procedures, regulations and requirements; schedule and prioritize own work assignments to meet expected timeframes; perform complex mathematical calculations; read and interpret plans, diagrams, manuals and specifications; plan, organize, prioritize and schedule projects; provide on-the-job training; utilize a personal computer and/or computer terminal, systems and software relevant to the job; communicate effectively orally and in writing internally/externally.
