Sr. Manager of Heavy Maintenance Overview:

The Sr. Manager of Heavy Maintenance is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, compliance, and performance metrics are met across all segments of MRO contracted work. Through direct oversight and management of a remote team, the role requires a leader who can adapt to shifting circumstances while upholding industry, company, and contractual standards. The ability to build and maintain a high-functioning team of remote vendor representatives is foundational to the role's requirements. Seamless and professional coordination across multiple stakeholder groups both internal and external is paramount. The Sr. Manager will formalize reporting cadence and content with all vendors to review key metrics against company targets. Interfacing with vendors, the role requires a strategic perspective applied toward heavy maintenance demands and market capacity to establish long-term contracts and partnerships. The Sr. Manager, Heavy Maintenance is responsible for creating and maintaining a culture of safety, efficiency, and budgetary discipline.

  • Maintain safety culture within Sun Country and our vendor partners
  • Ensure safety and Compliance of Sun Country Airlines CAMP
  • Lead our team of Heavy Maintenance Representatives
  • Drive organizational excellence through collaboration with internal business partners
  • Monitor upcoming work packages and ensure proper resources are allocated
  • MRO start-up and closure
  • Ensure Predictable delivery to schedule forecast
  • Collaborate with QA/QC department to ensure vendor qualifications are managed and accurate
  • Identify and analyze maintenance problems and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Participate in selection of Airframe MRO placement
  • Manage maintenance and cost performance of vendor maintenance
  • Assist in Forecasting and establishing aircraft maintenance check schedules
  • Manage travel budget and strategy
  • Ensure adherence to commercial agreement with Airframe MRO and Sun Country
  • Develop accurate financial reporting structure
  • Manage Scheduling and Hiring of Vendor reps
  • Build strategic IT initiatives with vendor partners for organizational excellence
  • Manage aircraft lease transitions
  • Assist in quality and warranty investigations and administration
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, Federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines
  • Any other duties assigned by management


Required Qualifications:



  • Ten or more years of experience in large transport Aircraft at an Airline or Airframe MRO
  • Ten or more years in Leadership at an Airframe MRO or Airline
  • A&P License
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written
  • Effective leadership and relationship building skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and organize effectively
  • Need keen attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of urgency, demonstrates initiative and adapt to changing priorities
  • Must be able to obtain SIDA badge.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management
  • Leadership Training
  • 737NG experience
  • TRAX


Compensation:

$120,000.00-135,000.00 USD. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

Classification:

Full-Time, Exempt

Work Location:

Fully remote, ability to reside anywhere in the United States. A minimum 50% travel required.

Work Environment:
