We are seeking a results-driven Superintendent, Process Project Engineering to lead a team of process engineers in delivering high-impact optimization projects across our operations. This role is responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and executing initiatives that eliminate bottlenecks, improve reliability, and enhance overall process performance while ensuring safety standards are met. The successful candidate will bring a strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Reporting to the Manager - Smelter & Refinery Technical and working in a collaborative community, you will be:

  • Leadership and Safety: Leading the delivery of projects plan in a safe and cost-effective manner. Engages team members in promoting the highest safety and operational standards.
  • Identify operational constraints and prioritize process improvement opportunities using data analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop and manage the project portfolio focused on plant performance, cost efficiency, and process reliability.
  • Lead and direct team members to identify the right process improvement projects through their engagement with process, operation and maintenance teams.
  • Contribute to and provide positive leadership in the strategic direction of smelting and refining technology as subject matter expert
  • Coaches team members on performance and sets clear objectives
  • Champion continuous improvement culture and best practices across the organization. Assess financial objectives, preparing annual budget and scheduling expenditures to identify the improvement opportunities

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering, Pyro Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field
  • Must have 7 plus years of experience with a minimum of 3 years in copper smelting and refining
  • Must have 3 plus years in managing projects, leading a team, team-building, and employee performance
  • Exposure to project management standards and tools with proven record demonstrating delivery of successful projects
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of functions and personalities across the organization.
  • Must possess high analytical skills and technical competencies
  • Competency in using statistical analysis tools and OSI - PI, DCS awareness, SAP, phase diagrams and pyrometallurgical model, report writing

Where you'll be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter, and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
