We are currently seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a passionate team focused on advancing cancer treatment solutions through cutting-edge biotechnology.

About the Role:

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in the evaluation and integration of firmware technologies for active implantable medical devices. This hands-on position involves developing and integrating real-time firmware while ensuring compliance with medical device regulatory standards. Your expertise in embedded systems, system integration, and medical device firmware development will help drive the successful delivery of compliant, high-performance implantable technologies.

Pay Rate: $55 - $73/hr. | Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, hybrid 3 days on site

Key Responsibilities:



  • Evaluate technologies and develop technical specifications, assessments, and validations for firmware and system integration.
  • Support firmware architecture design, development, and integration for active implantable medical devices.
  • Ensure compliance with medical device standards including IEC 62304, FDA regulations, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and cybersecurity standards (e.g., 62443).
  • Identify and mitigate risks, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and integration challenges.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, regulatory, clinical, and risk management teams to ensure device compatibility and performance.
  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation, traceability matrices, and SDLC artifacts for regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to software/system risk management, verification/validation testing, and firmware debugging using unit testing, HIL simulations, and automated test tools.
  • Provide expertise on low-power embedded systems, wireless communication protocols (BLE, NFC, RF telemetry), and RTOS platforms.
  • Assist with regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k), PMA, CE Mark) involving firmware and support transition from integration to sustaining engineering.
  • Foster innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the R&D team.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, including work with RTOS and microcontroller-based systems
  • 1+ years of experience with implantable or Class III medical devices, including regulatory compliance and cybersecurity
  • Proficient in C/C++ programming and experienced in BLE system integration with iOS, Android, and Windows platforms
  • Skilled in using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic tools
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills; familiarity with PC application development in Visual Studio (C#.Net)

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position.
