The salary range for this role, based in Miami, is $185,520.00 to $231,900.00. The range will vary if outside of this location. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate'sexperience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Job Summary

At Pernod Ricard USA, we have accelerated and transformed our organization around experiences of conviviality, placing the consumer at the heart of our business model. The Area Vice President (AVP) will support the creation, delivery, and performance management of an alternative Route to Market (RTM) strategy for a portfolio of under-prioritized spirits brands, specifically within the 'Targeted Elevate' and 'Execute' segments. This role will also have the opportunity to shape a high-impact team, and driving talent development within PRUSA.

This position reports directly to the DVP General Manager GEM. The scope of this role includes supporting the establishment and overseeing of an alternative spirits portfolio, known as The Gem Portfolio, which currently generates $120M in NNS, with a goal of doubling to $250M by the end of FY27. Once fully operational, this portfolio will manage approximately 10 distribution partners across open, control, and franchise states with a high degree of complexity.

The role requires collaboration across multiple distributors and product categories while effectively navigating the PRUSA organization and broader ecosystem. The team size could reach 8 direct reports, known as State Distributor Managers.

Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, as the AVP will engage with distributor partners at the senior management levels. The ideal candidate must possess the gravitas and ability to balance strategic influence with both soft and firm negotiation skills.

What you'll do

RTM Strategy Development & Execution:

  • Support the development and execution of an important alternative RTM strategy for 20+ spirits brands, including the 'Targeted Elevate' and 'Execute' segments.

  • Drive a focused refresh for brands that have been under-prioritized, ensuring that they gain the necessary attention and support to maximize their potential.

  • Assist in standing up a new distribution network for PRUSA with these brands and ensure full control of the RFP process.

  • Manage the senior level relationships across the new distribution network, engaging them in regular business reviews and performance cadences.

Revenue Growth & Market Expansion:

  • Manage a portfolio of brands that currently contribute 10% to PRUSA's NNS, with the goal to unlock significantly larger growth potential through better focus and distributor engagement.

Distributor & Channel Relationships:

  • Explore and trial previously unused US distributors (e.g., Breakthru Beverage, Johnson Brothers, Reyes etc) to expand the reach of the 'Castle Brands' GEM portfolio and elevate our portfolio status through working with these new distributors.

  • Develop a national footprint of alternative distribution for the the portfolio across these new distributors and build the required resource model to manage the new system.

Retailer Engagement & Chain Execution:

  • Improve the execution of 'Targeted Elevate' and 'Execute' brands at the chain level, working closely with key retailers to build stronger relationships, broader distribution, and improved velocity.

  • Increase PRUSA's scale with retailers by offering a broader portfolio, leading to enhanced category partnership opportunities and more impactful retail executions.

  • Develop new ways of execution through the new distributors embracing their different technologies, POS needs, promotional programming, and incentive requirements.

Team Leadership, Coaching, and Development:

  • Lead the creation of talent rotation opportunities and career development for PRUSA team members, fostering a culture of growth and performance excellence.

  • Ensure the team is equipped with the tools and training necessary to execute the RTM strategy effectively and deliver outstanding results.

  • Drive corporate culture of inclusivity, high accountability, and high performance across the team.

  • Set consistent performance standards to drive the market and promote the consistent use of management dashboards to drive business decisions and monitor compliance/progress against goals.

  • Increase performance impact through clear, strategically aligned objectives and key results. Ensure team's goals are meaningfully and effectively prioritized and cascaded throughout the team.

  • Be a high contributing member of the Commercial Leadership Team bringing effective communication skills and a positive mindset to leadership meetings.

Qualifications & Requirements

Industry-Specific Knowledge:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the spirits or wider alcohol industry.

  • Deep understanding of distribution networks, route-to-market (RTM) strategies, and brand portfolio management in the U.S. beverage alcohol market.

  • Leadership & Strategy:

  • Minimum 5 years in senior leadership roles, such as Director or Vice President, with demonstrated experience managing a P&L at scale.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing business strategies that drive growth for underperforming brands or categories.

  • This position may travel up to 50% of the time.

Distributor & Retailer Relations:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-impact relationships with major distributors (e.g., SGWS, RNDC, Breakthru Beverage) and national retailers, leveraging partnerships to drive execution and market penetration.

  • Strong experience in influencing distributor engagement and managing complex portfolios.

Market Expansion & Revenue Growth:

  • Proven success in expanding markets and revenue growth.

Team Leadership:

  • Experience leading and building high-performance teams, with a focus on talent development, rotational opportunities, and fostering a culture of accountability and inclusivity.

  • Strong expertise in setting and managing strategically aligned objectives and key results.

Skills:

  • Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable strategies for portfolio growth and performance management.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to navigate distributor relationships and retailer partnerships effectively.

  • Skilled at driving organizational transformation and refreshing under-prioritized brands.

  • Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the financial levers that drive profitability in the spirits and alcohol industry.

  • Proficiency in creating and implementing scalable management tools like dashboards to monitor operational excellence and track progress against KPIs.
