PRN/Hourly Medical Assistant II - UI Health Care Jordan Creek (West Des Moines)

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant IIto work within our growingWest Des Moines Women's Health Clinic.Our clinics specialize in performing a variety of procedures related to IVF and Reproductive Endocrinology. The Des Moines Women's Health Clinic opened in November 2020. The clinic provides a very specialized and unique patient care experience and collaborates with the University to provide pregnancy success rates that are higher than the national average Our Medical Assistant's develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor patient care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary team to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients.

This position will mainly support our Women's Health Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Johnston Clinic location, Specialty/Outreach Clinics, and/or our Urbandale location.

Duties to include:

• 
  

  Staff will support our Women's Health Clinic patients.

  Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.

  Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.

  Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: PRN (20-24 hours per month minimum)

Schedule: Variablehours; Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM; no weekend, no holiday, and no on call hours. Occasionally scheduled for full 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM shifts to cover sick/vacation

• Availability to provide support other clinics based on clinical hours/need.

Location: West Des Moines, IA (and surrounding clinic locations as needed)

Salary:$19.21 - $28.53/hour(based on years of experience)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• CertificationORregistration as a Medical AssistantORcompletion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program,ORCompletion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology(include educational transcripts during application process).

Special Qualifications/Licenses:

• Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
• Availability to provide support to other clinical locations as needed

Highly Desirable Qualifications

• Previous OB/Labor and Delivery experience
• The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired.

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous EPIC experience.
• Previous knowledge of University policies, procedures and systems.
