Histology Lab Assistant

Schedule: Full-Time, M-F 8:30AM-5PM, Benefits Eligible

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates the histotechnological, general laboratory, and computer skills required in the anatomical pathology laboratory; may include microtomy skills, routine special and histochemical stains, continuing education of self and peers, and quality control and assisting in the advancement of new technology.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and upholds applicable laws and regulations related to position.
• Wears appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by lab area. Reports spills and hazardous situations immediately and acts appropriately. Follows established guidelines for disclosure of patient information.
• Performs preventive maintenance and quality control with appropriate documentation and communication.
• Participates in continuous improvement programs within the department including participating in quality assurance, continuing education programs, department meetings, and special projects as assigned.
• Promotes a cohesive work environment and identify resolutions to improve morale.

Education Requirement:

• Associate's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, required.
• Bachelor's degree, preferred.

Experience:

1 year of experience, preferred.
