Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE: The Laboratory Operations & Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting the daily functioning of a dynamic medicinal chemistry lab focused on psychedelic drug discovery. This hybrid position blends operational responsibilities-such as managing inventory, coordinating safety and compliance tasks, and maintaining lab infrastructure-with opportunities to contribute to early-stage research. CORE DUTIES:
Lab Operations & Logistics
1. Manage lab inventory and ordering of chemicals, reagents, consumables, and supplies. 2. Receive and check in deliveries; reconcile orders and support monthly invoicing. 3. Maintain an organized, clean, and well-functioning laboratory space and equipment. 4. Coordinate with Facilities and vendors for maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections. 5. Track chemical inventory and schedule hazardous waste disposal and safety documentation (training provided).
Administrative & Communication Support
6. Serve as point of contact for day-to-day lab operations. 7. Maintain SOPs, work instructions, and ordering documentation. 8. Assist with preparation of internal reports, slide decks, and materials for publications. 9. Communicate effectively with lab members, vendors, and administrative staff.
Research & Scientific Contribution (as time allows)
10. Assist in setting up experiments, preparing solutions, and submitting samples for analytical testing (e.g., NMR, LCMS, UPLC). 11. Contribute to research figure generation, data tracking, and literature reference gathering. 12. Receive mentorship and training from senior chemists and participate in the intellectual life of the lab.
Regulatory & Documentation Support
13. Help manage documentation related to chemical safety, controlled substances, and compliance audits. 14. Maintain logs and records in accordance with Usona's regulatory and operational standards. 15. Participate in lab inspections and support implementation of corrective actions as needed.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. B.S./B.A. degree.
2. Completion of at least 3 semesters of chemistry coursework.
3. Familiarity with academic or industrial lab practices; internship or coursework-based experience is welcome.
4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
5. Comfortable with learning and using digital tools for inventory and operations (training provided).
6. Effective communicator and reliable team member.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. B.S./B.A. degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related STEM field.
2. Curious and eager to learn, with a flexible mindset.
3. Interest in long-term involvement with the lab and its mission.
4. Collaborative and proactive, with a "no-task-too-small" attitude.
5. Experience with any of the following is a plus (but not required): lab ordering systems, safety compliance, facilities coordination, or manuscript preparation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Able to lift and move lab supplies (up to 30 lbs) and perform physical tasks related to lab maintenance.
