Quality Engineer needed for a contract to hire role in Rochester, NY

Job Description:

Responsible for the identification and documentation of quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.

  • Facilitates the implementation of standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of company products.
  • Leads the preparation and execution of internal audits within established manufacturing and production controls to ensure compliance with internal and external specifications and standards.
  • Liaises with auditing groups and inspectors to develop formal written reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identifies trends in discrepancies and collaborates with process owners on the refinement and optimization of business processes.
  • Oversees testing department activities and work of inspectors.
  • Reviews, approves, and controls work order flow tags.
  • Develops inspection techniques, tools, and supplemental inspection instructions in support of standards, methods and procedures.
  • Participates in supplier corrective and preventative actions, including: customer escapes, process nonconformities, supplier corrective actions, customer and change control, and material review board meetings.
  • Intermediate professional with practical knowledge of job area.
  • Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area.
  • Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures
  • Identifies and addresses changes within own job area.
  • Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results.


Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science Engineering or related field.
  • Requires advanced job knowledge/skills.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills


Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge and/or experience with Microsoft Tool Suite
  • Experience in development of manufacturing work instructions
  • Knowledge and/or experience with ISO9001/AS9100
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or similar PLM tool


Employment Pre-requisites

The following requirements must be met to be eligible for this position: successful completion of a background investigation, and drug urinalysis.
