Position Summary

The Summer Transportation Institute (STI) is seeking to fill positions for their 2025 summer, on-campus,
residential program. High school students are invited to UNM's main campus to learn and explore about careers in the transportation industry, i.e. railway, flight, auto, etc. The Residential Advisor (one female, one male) will serve as a student staff member to provide support as a team member with the following responsibilities:

  • RAs will live in the dormitory through the duration of the program;
  • Maintain a level of organizational structure in the dormitory as per University and Program policies;
  • Ensuring that program participants are prepared to begin daily scheduled activities;
  • Escorting students to assure they find their way to scheduled activities;
  • Follow and maintain a log of "check-in/out" procedures;
  • Participate in all weekend and holiday activities;
  • Escort students to weekend meals/activities/events;
  • Make certain all program participants are accounted for at all times;
  • Conduct routine and spot dormitory room checks to assure compliance with policies;
  • Document and report immediately any misbehavior and/or infractions of policies to Summer Camp Manager & Director, and appropriate enforcement officials as necessary;
  • Promote safe, effective, and ethical study/living habits;
  • Use professional and ethical discretion and judgment in handling situations;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Summer Camp Manager or Director.


Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Student majoring in engineering or computer science;
  • Ability to develop rapport with students and colleagues while maintaining supervisory role over students;
  • Must be responsible to handle disciplinary situations, when necessary;
