Position Description

The Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas Tech University (TTU) invites applications for three full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor positions to begin September 1, 2026. About the College

Founded in 1925 as one of the university's four original colleges, the College of Arts & Sciences is comprised of 15 departments, offering a wide variety of courses and programs in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and natural sciences. The College has more than 10,000 students enrolled representing more than a quarter of the overall Texas Tech University student population while maintaining a 22:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

About the Department/School/Area

The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management enrolls over 400 undergraduate students in the B.S. in Sport Management and over 60 master's degree students in the M.S. in Sport Management, online and face-to-face. The department offers a B.S. in Kinesiology and an M.S. in Kinesiology for over 1,400 undergraduate and 40 graduate students, respectively. It also offers a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology. Its building includes six classrooms, a student computer lab, and faculty offices.

Major/Essential Functions

In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

As a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management, you will be expected to:

  • Contribute to the teaching mission of the department.
  • Mentor graduate students.
  • Develop a record of peer-reviewed/funded research.
  • Provide service to the department, college, and university.

Faculty Qualifications


  • An earned (no later than August 31, 2026) doctoral degree in Sport Management or a closely related area.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Sport Management or a closely related field for at least one semester, which could be as a graduate student as the instructor of record.
  • Expertise in either (1) in sport marketing, (2) sport finance and economics, or (3) intercollegiate athletic administration with an emphasis on organizational behavior, leadership, or policy along with at least one other area of Sport Management each as evidenced by a record of peer-reviewed research.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Experience in developing and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in either sport marketing, sport finance and economics, or intercollegiate athletic administration with an emphasis on organizational behavior, leadership, or policy.
  • Experience developing and teaching online courses in either sport marketing, sport finance and economics, or intercollegiate athletic administration with an emphasis on organizational behavior, leadership, or policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to seek and apply for external research funding.
