Summary of Position

The Solutions Engineer I will analyze large clinical informatics and bioinformatics data sets, and will collaborate with senior engineers in the build of multiple enterprise-level solutions that connect every aspect of the lab from clinical services to data research. The Solutions Engineer I must be interested in learning genetics, bioinformatics, workflow, and system design. Core technology stack includes, but is not limited to, SQL, Node, JQuery, Java, Scala, Python, and R.

  • We collaborate and work closely with other teams: Lab, Genetic Scientists, Research, Client Services, Marketing, Sales, and Management.



  • You will be responsible for evaluating processes, building solutions, developing algorithms, coordinating projects, and managing genetic data.



  • You are expected to learn about bioinformatics, genetics, and medical science.




Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience

Minimum Qualifications:




  • Education - BA/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Bioinformatics or equivalent is required.



  • 0 - 3 years of previous experience in software development, software design, or equivalent merit.



  • Exceptional ability and interest in learning additional domains including genetics, bioinformatics, workflow, and system design is required.



  • Strong understanding of computer science and mathematical concepts.



  • Ability to evaluate operational, analytical, and technical aspects.



  • Creative thinking, technical knowledge, and intelligent analysis.



  • Ability to design, develop, and deploy software and non-software solutions to existing systems.



  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in teams.





Preferred Experience:




  • Experience with node.js, jQuery, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5



  • Experience with SQL, PL/SQL



  • Experience with User Interface Design



  • Experience with Computer Architecture and Computer Science



  • Experience with GIT Source Control, Windows, and Linux



  • Experience manipulating data such as JSON, XML, CSV, XLSX, TXT



  • Understanding of User Locus of Control



  • Understanding of Requirements Analysis



  • Understanding of Networks, Security, Computation, Algorithms



  • Understanding of Bioinformatics, Genetics, Biology



  • Experience with Oracle, Sqlite, and others (MySql, PostgreSQL, NoSQL)



  • Experience with Java/C++



  • Experience with Python, Bash, Regular Expression



  • Understanding of clinical standards and guidelines (ACMG, ACOG, CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, etc.)
