Summary:

The Analytics Institute Manager is responsible for the overall delivery and success of business intelligence and analytics at Cook Children's to ensure that analytics solutions drive business value and support data-driven decision making. This role is responsible for management and coordination of BI and analytics products, including: report and dashboard development, data visualization, data transformation, data analysis, advanced analytics products and models, analytics tools administration and data catalog/metadata management across Cook Children's data assets (Epic EHR/Cogito, analytics platform, and other relevant data systems). The Manager splits time between hands-on data analysis, BI development and managerial activities, while overseeing the implementation of processes, products and technologies that drive end-user data literacy and empowerment. The Manager will collaborate with data engineers, application analysts and business stakeholders to produce BI and analytics solutions that support complex cross-functional business needs. The Manager will partner with the Business Intelligence Director and Data Engineering & Analytics Platform Manager to support data governance and promote analytics solutions that align data capabilities with system strategic goals and initiatives. The Manager has strong leadership experience, excellent communication skills, demonstrated project management expertise, and is a key contributor to Cook Children's Knowledge Management strategy. The Manager is responsible for the daily operation and staff management of the BI team in support of the Health Care System. The Manager drives best practices in the areas of BI and analytics, standardizes work processes, understands departmental capacity, and promotes innovation in all aspects of the team's work. The Manager ensures that all systems, reports, and dashboards enhance and safeguard proprietary patient, family, and employee confidentiality, data integrity, security, and availability to appropriate staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Business or related/relevant field required.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in information technology required.

  • Minimum of 3 years in a management, supervisory or lead position required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare, provider and/or managed care/insurance environment preferred.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

  • Epic certification may be required for the position based on area focus.

  • Employee must hold or obtain Epic certification within six (6) months of employment (including one allowed test retake).

  • Required Epic certifications for supporting Epic include: Epic Cogito, Caboodle Data Model, Clarity Data Model, and one of the following: Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Model.

Preferred:

  • The required certifications above as well as additional relevant Cogito certifications/proficiencies such as Cogito Project Manager, Clinical/Patient Access/Revenue Cycle Data Models, Cogito Tools Administration, and/or other relevant Epic application certification(s)

  • Microsoft SQL certification, Python certification and/or BI/analytics tool certification (Power BI, SAS, etc) a plus
