Job Summary: The Administrative Charge Nurse-Angio Specialty utilizes discretion and independent judgment in providing supervision to a team of licensed and unlicensed nursing staff who provide direct and indirect patient care for patients receiving interventional radiology procedures. Directs the shift operations, based on knowledge of procedure, condition of patient, and compliance with regulatory agencies. Sets and resets priorities to ensure safe quality patient care is given, and patient flow is maintained. Works with leadership team to set financial goals for department. Develops schedules reviews and approves workforce time and attendance, approves overtime for assigned employees, minimizes overtime when possible. Provides input into the capital and annual budgets. Participates in the interview process. Completes performance appraisals on time and in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Enforces performance expectations set for staff and provides guidance and direction to staff, as necessary. Develops collegial relationships and open communication among leadership, physicians, and staff within department and outside of department. Provides energetic and engaging team building education methods that produce a high-performance team that adopts a care delivery model of accountability, empowerment, and transformation of care to evidenced based practice at point of care supported by innovative technology. Participates in strategic planning process and aligns service goals and objectives with the mission, vision and values of the Radiology department and the organization. Assists the department leadership in ensuring department is survey-ready at all times and in compliance with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies and health system policies. Participates research approved by the Internal Review Board (IRB). Maintains knowledge of research studies in department. Supports the integration of research and evidenced-based practice into delivery of care. Works with department leadership to interpret, communicate and incorporate research findings into education content. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) required. Minimum three years of nursing experience in critical care, emergency or interventional radiology nursing required. One year of prior management or supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of Interventional Radiology (IR) nursing. Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care, and nursing scope of practice required. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty and population served. Obtains cooperation and support from a broad range of licensed and unlicensed staff. Knowledge and application of adult learning principles. Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of staff. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; operate/troubleshoot patient care equipment required for the position. Able to communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English (and Spanish preferred) in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position. Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
