Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Product Owner to lead the development and implementation of our Software Asset Management program from the ground up. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software licensing, asset management principles, and best practices, along with strong leadership and communication skills. This role will be pivotal in optimizing software usage, ensuring compliance, and maximizing the value of software investments across the organization.

Responsibilities

Program Development


  • Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Software Asset Management program

  • Develop and implement policies, processes, and procedures for effective software asset management

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the SAM program


Stakeholder Engagement


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, procurement, finance, and legal, to gather requirements and ensure alignment with organizational goals

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all SAM-related inquiries and initiatives


Software Licensing Management


  • Oversee the management of software licenses, ensuring compliance with vendor agreements and regulatory requirements

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate risks associated with software licensing


Tool Implementation


  • Lead the configuration of SAM tool, ensuring proper integration with existing systems

  • Identify and eliminate technical debt from past customizations and prepare for SAM Pro to have complete and accurate data


Training and Awareness


  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on software asset management best practices and compliance requirements

  • Promote awareness of the SAM program across the organization to foster a culture of accountability and compliance


Reporting and Analysis


  • Generate regular reports on software usage, compliance status, and cost savings achieved through effective asset management

  • Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for optimization, and areas for improvement


Continuous Improvement


  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to software asset management

  • Continuously assess and refine the SAM program to enhance efficiency and effectiveness


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 6-8 years of experience in Software Asset Management, Product Owner, or a similar role

  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, compliance requirements, and best practices

  • Experience with ServiceNow, particularly the Software Asset Management module

  • Proven experience in agile methodologies and product management practices

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified SAM Product Owner (CSAM), ServiceNow Certified System Administrator) are a plus

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or Computer Engineering


The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 155,000 - 233,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
