Job Description |
ECU Department of University Advancement is currently seeking a communication and social media intern. The intern will assist with coordinating and executing the communication and social media strategy for University Advancement, working in news/marketing writing, donor stewardship, video and social media strategy. Seeking individual with proficiency in short-form video storytelling utilizing tools like Capcut.
Additionally, this role will be instrumental in increasing our Divisional social media presence and gaining visibility for our donors and alumni among students, faculty, staff, alumni and across Pirate Nation.
Responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively with the Communication and Donor Relations team to develop a plan and calendar to increase marketing and news related content on all media channels
- Develop alumni and donor stories in creative ways using video, blogs, and short clips
- Promote the Division, our donors, and alumni on social media platforms and in newsletters
- Analyze traditional and social media data to ensure the Division is continuing to surpass expectations
- Develop Pirate Nation Gives promotional materials directed specifically at students
- Serve as on-air talent for Division social media and donor stewardship video projects
- Attend Division events to ensure proper in-person and digital stewardship of university donors.
- Capture events for future traditional and social media activities.
- Conduct research, as requested, on new marketing trends and mediums.
- Solicit feedback through on-site informal interviews and through social listening.
- Receive feedback/constructive criticism from supervisor(s) and using this towards continued individual growth

Candidate must be a student currently enrolled at
ECU, possess and maintain a minimum of 2.5
GPA, and be in good disciplinary and academic standing with
ECU.
Candidate must be able to work flexible schedule up to 15-20 hours per week with occasional night and weekend events. Candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be familiar with key social media platforms. Candidate will have a strong work ethic. Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. |
