Research Focus: The Yang Laboratory at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center, and the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, the University of Iowa invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position. We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying immunometabolic regulation in Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). This position involves basic and translational research on obesity/diabetes-associated metabolic and endocrine dysfunction using mouse models and human cells. The Yang lab Our laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach integrating genetic mouse models, in vivo and cellular metabolic phenotyping, molecular biology, advanced imaging techniques, and biochemical assays. Our recent work has been published in leading journals such as Science, Nature, Cell Metabolism, Cell Reports, and Diabetes. https://yang.lab.uiowa.edu Required Qualifications: PhD in biomedical science, bioengineering, or a related field Strong research background in T1D or metabolic disease Experience with molecular biology and vivo model techniques, including nanoparticle-based drug delivery to mice Key Responsibilities Design and conduct experiments using T1D and obesity mouse models. Perform metabolic assessments (e.g., GTT, ITT, GSIS, Clamp studies). Maintain beta cell lines; isolate and analyze islet function. Conduct molecular, biochemical, and imaging analyses. CRISPR gene editing, RNA-seq, proteomics. Seahorse/Oroboros metabolic assays. Immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and organelle function analysis. Analyze data, prepare manuscripts, and present findings. Mentor trainees and collaborate with internal/external teams.
