This position includes a signing bonus of $2,500 (full-time) for new county hires. This position serves as a clinical coordinator and member of the Professional Development and Training Team. Provides support to staff performing direct services and casework with individuals and families receiving services across the Department of Family Services, which includes both the Adult and Aging; Children, Youth, and Families; and Domestic and Sexual Violence Services divisions. Coordinates, implements and monitors the department's student internship program. Provides high quality clinical supervision to employees pursuing clinical licensure in Virginia. Develops and facilities providing professional growth opportunities. Establishes and maintains strong working alliances; and promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging. This role requires an individual with a strong ability to build meaningful relationships and foster collaborative partnerships across diverse teams, divisions, departments, academic institutions, and external stakeholders. By cultivating trust and open communication, serves as a key connector who aligns organizational goals with collective efforts to drive positive outcomes. Works under the general supervision of the Behavioral Health Supervisor. This position emphasizes the importance of educating, training, and empowering employees, partners, and colleagues through effective knowledge sharing and skills development. In doing so, they will create an environment where learning and development are central to the team's success. Key duties of the position include:

Offer constructive feedback and ongoing coaching to enhance individual and team capabilities.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Extensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and methods of the psychological and social development of the individual; Thorough knowledge of intake procedures, social history development, and interviewing techniques; Thorough knowledge of major schools of treatment of emotionally and socially disturbed individuals; Knowledge of psychiatric, psychological, and/or sociological terminology and concepts; Ability to conduct mental health assessments and apply treatment approaches/modalities; Ability to formulate diagnoses for clients with acute, chronic, severe mental illness; Ability to diagnostically interpret data obtained from psychological test results, social histories, and interviews; Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public and private sector organizations, community groups, and the general public; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college with a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing; plus two years of clinical experience. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Possession of a current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services Registry check screening to the satisfaction of the employer.
This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited master's degree program in social work; Five (5) or more years of clinical experience within human services programs; One or more years of experience providing clinical supervision; Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia with at least 2 years of direct clinical practice experience in Virginia post LCSW. Completed a minimum of 14 hours of initial clinical supervision training required within the past 5 years OR if not within the past 5 years, then initially AND completed 7 hours of clinical supervision training within 5 years initial or previous training per Virginia Board of Social Work 18VAC140-20-50. Experience requirements for a licensed clinical social worker. OR able to schedule and complete required clinical supervision training within the first month of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employee may require lifting up to 15 lbs. Incumbent must be able to use technology to perform duties related to this position which include (but are not limited to) Microsoft Office, electronic meeting platforms to host meetings and training, and have the ability to enter data and create written reports.
