Assistant/Associate/Professor-Pediatric Ophthalmology Assistant/Associate/Professor-Pediatric Ophthalmology Hiring Department: UICOMP-Pediatrics Location: Peoria, IL USA Requisition ID: 1036806 Posting Close Date: 11/20/2025 Salary: $260,000 to $290,000 per year The Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology is a busy pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus clinical practice that provides the only full time practice in Central Illinois providing comprehensive pediatric eyecare outside of the Chicago area for the entire State of Illinois. The current faculty consists of 2 senior pediatric ophthalmologists along with 2 junior faculty members providing pediatric eyecare along with treating adult strabismus patients. The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) seeks Pediatric Ophthalmology candidates for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. The candidate must hold an MD/DO degree, be BC/BE in Ophthalmology and successfully complete an AAPOS approved fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and will hold or be eligible for an Illinois physician license. This is a faculty position, as such requires clinical care, teaching medical students and residents, research and scholarly activities. The position will provide clinical consultation services for pediatric patients in the Children's Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) Clinical activities of the faculty are primarily concentrated at CHOI, which is the primary pediatric teaching facility for UICOMP and is a 132-bed facility that offers over 50 pediatric programs and services. These programs represent over 100 pediatric sub-specialist in 24 different disciplines, including the largest pediatric surgery program in Illinois. CHOI is the only full service tertiary hospital for children in downstate Illinois with a children and adult congenital heart disease program, Illinois Perinatal Center, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit and is designated as a Level I trauma center. Position Summary The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) seeks a Pediatric Ophthalmology candidate for a full-time position as Assistant/Associate/Professor in the Section of Pediatric Ophthalmology.
