JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for commercial credit process, commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management activities within a defined region. Directly manage a team of Underwriters and indirectly manage a team of Credit Analysts with the region. Develop Underwriters and Credit Analysts by reviewing and concurring on major commercial credits. Assist with written analysis/documentation on larger, complex credits as needed for use in making lending decisions. Assist the Senior Credit Officer or Chief Credit Officer in maintaining the overall effectiveness of commercial loan policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Maintain effective partnerships between loan production staff and credit staff, ensuring the sound underwriting of credits on a timely basis. Directly manage Underwriters and Credit Department Team Leader. Decision larger credits within the region and make recommendations for approval on larger credits that need higher level approval.
  • Assist Commercial Lenders and Underwriters with the structuring and underwriting of larger, more complex credits. Provide assistance, guidance, and training for commercial lending and assigned staff and communicate to all areas of lending and customer service personnel.
  • Remain current on market and industry issues, trends, and analytical techniques in industries where the region has loan concentrations.
  • Develops written procedures and production reports for direct areas of responsibility for the department and ensures they remain up to date.

Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Manage one subordinate supervisor who directly supervises all Credit Analysts in the region (currently 2 as of October 2014).
  • Manage all Underwriters assigned to the region (currently 4 positions). Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the regional credit staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university preferred.
  • 20 years relevant experience in commercial credit underwriting, finance, or lending, with over 20 years preferred.
  • 5+ years management experience with excellent administrative and organizational skills and ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending regulations required.
