IT Infrastructure Engineer Specialist

This role will function as part of PPG's Storage and Data Protection team within the Global IT Infrastructure organization. As an IT Infrastructure Engineer Specialist on PPG's Storage and Data Protection team, you will act as a part of a team to ensure the security and reliability of PPG's data and systems, supporting and enhancing PPG's processes and technologies related to data backup and recovery, storage, business process orchestration (scheduling), business continuity and disaster recovery. You will also lead and participate in projects to evolve these services, leveraging automation, cloud and other new technologies. This is a hybrid role at our office in Pittsburgh, PA and you will report to the IT Infrastructure Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead low-to-medium complexity projects, directing activities across team members and ensuring technical requirements are met
• Work with internal customers and vendors to design appropriate solutions related to storage, data protection / security, process orchestration/scheduling, and business continuity / disaster recovery that meet business objectives, often working on multiple small projects concurrently
• Work on tasks independently to a desired outcome
• Work across Global Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to storage / data protection technologies
• Interface with operational support teams to resolve complex technical and configuration issues
• Create documentation to enable operational support
• Serve as a technical mentor to junior members of the team; assisting in technical decision making, problem resolution, and project execution guidance
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities, including automation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Computer Science/Information Technology, or equivalent job experience
• 3+ years of experience working with IT Infrastructure technologies
• Experience or familiarity with Data Protection software including Veeam Backup, storage and global scheduling software/hardware platforms.
• Experience working with or familiarity with cloud environments (Azure / AWS / OCI). Certifications preferred.
• Proven project management skills.
• Proven experience with automation and scripting languages, including PowerShell
