This position is full-time (40 hours / week), Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work required overtime in the first 6 weeks of the year with occasional Saturdays.

This will be paid on-the-job training and the hours during training will be 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST from Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing outside assistance funding for patients
  • Work with co-pay assistance programs, foundations and internal financial assistance programs to find funding for patients
  • Process incoming applications for assistance funding
  • Assist the clinical staff with setting up documents.
  • Handle inbound calls as needed
  • Handle resolution / inquiries from members and / or providers
  • Ensure timely follow - up with patients as needed
  • Flexibility of assignment by leadership for projects

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 2+ years of call center customer service experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with Copay Assistance Programs OR Foundation Assistance Programs
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel (create, edit, save documents and spreadsheets), and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)
  • Ability to work required overtime in the first 6 weeks of the year with occasional Saturdays based on business need
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift schedule from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM CST from Monday - Friday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with working within the health care Industry and with health care insurance
  • Experience with working in a hospital, physician's office, OR medical clinic setting
  • Clerical OR administrative support background
  • Knowledge of ICD - 9 and CPT codes
  • Optum Specialty / Infusion experience
  • Experience with determining patient responsibility, payment plans, setting financial expectations
  • Experience with benefit verification, prior authorization, and PBM claim adjudication
  • Experience in working with CMS / Medicare services, preparing Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABN)
  • Experience with TAILORMED

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 - $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
